CEU 26-3 Paint and Pigments

Virtual Event

Paint + Pigments
What’s the story of the color in a can of paint?

Color can inspire, calm or energize, and pigments play a crucial role in delivering a desired color and outcome to substrates. But pigments can do more than affect the aesthetic of the space – they can also provide desirable performance characteristics. In this course, we will look to the past for insights into the foundation of color and how certain colors affect our mood, perception and decision-making. We will also address the practical application of specifying color today, and how to determine the best paint system for your project.

 Course Objectives

  • Understand the history, symbolism and pigments of nine key colors, as well as the reactions each color can illicit when used in the built environment.
  • Be able to explain how pigments affect the performance of the paint and ultimately, the satisfaction of the end-user -- above and beyond color.
  • Be able to select and specify high-quality, innovative coatings which help deliver meaningful benefits to owners and occupants.
  • Understand tools available to make paint and color decisions that make it to the finish schedule.
