About Interior Designers of Alberta (IDA)
As the largest and most comprehensive interior design membership in the province, the IDA is recognized by other interior design associations as the voice of the profession within Alberta. The IDA represents all classes of interior designers, from students to retired members, and is actively involved in provincial, national, and international affairs and discussions related to professional governance, liaisons, and reciprocity.
Through its work, the IDA ensures that its members receive current information and are informed by standards that reflect the profession at large. The IDA also receives and offers support from other interior design associations throughout Canada, providing continuity and currency to its members.
The IDA sets standards for admission into membership, including education and experience requirements, practice standards, professional development, and adherence to a Code of Ethics. Additionally, the IDA has protected the title of "Registered Interior Designer," ensuring that professional interior designers meet the standards set out by the Interior Designers of Canada (IDC).
With over 160 members representing various specialties, including corporate, residential, retail, hospitality, healthcare, and institutional design, the IDA is committed to the growth and development of the interior design profession in Alberta.
